Fall 2023 Vaccination Updates:

Influenza Vaccine

Our clinic is offering the flu shot now during your visit and we encourage everyone to be vaccinated. Infants and children between 6 months and 2 years must receive their flu vaccine at our clinic. Children aged 2 years and older and all adults can also get their flu vaccine at our clinic or at their local pharmacy.  If you receive a flu shot somewhere else, especially if you are 65 and older, we strongly encourage you to let us know in order to update your chart.

Covid Booster

There is a new COVID-19 vaccine available now that better protects against the Omicron XBB variant. It is approved by Health Canada for use in people six months of age and older. While our clinic is NOT offering this vaccine at this time, we encourage everyone who is eligible to schedule this vaccine at their local pharmacy or public health clinic. Please see our COVID-19 Page for more details.

RSV Vaccine

AREXVY is a new vaccine recently approved by Health Canada for the prevention of lower respiratory tract disease caused by RSV in people 60 years of age and older. While the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) has not yet provided recommendations on the broader use of this vaccine, it is available now. It is currently covered by OHIP for those over 60 who live in long-term care homes, Elder Care Lodges and some retirement homes. For people in this age group who do not qualify for the public funded vaccine, you have the option of privately purchasing the vaccine if prescribed by your doctor (cost ~ $280). Please call our office if you would like further information about this vaccine.

Office Mask Policy

While provincial masking requirements are lifted for most settings, our office follows the Ontario College of Family Physicians’ recommendation to ask patients to keep their mask on at all times during their visit (unless requested to remove for examination).
